Volunteer for Bike MS: Beyond the Beltway

Volunteer Needs

Truck Drivers
Truck drivers are needed to drive large moving trucks along the route.  Duties include loading and unloading supplies and bikes.

Bike Mechanics
We need mechanics to assist cyclists along the route.

Bus Greeters
Be there to welcome back and congratulate the one-day riders as they return to the start location on Saturday.

Cyclist Check-in at the Overnight
Greet cyclists and check them in as they finish day one of the ride.

Dinner Volunteers
Help serve dinner to the hungry cyclists.

Breakfast Servers
Help serve breakfast to the hungry cyclists.

Start Line Volunteers
Help pass out water bottles, write down biker numbers, and man information table.

Parking Volunteers
Help direct parking at the start/finish and overnight locations.

Bike Coral Volunteers
Arrange bikes for the one-day riders in corals while the cyclists wait to be shuttled back to the start.

Registration
Registration volunteers are needed to greet, meet, and sign-in thousands of riders and send them on their way.  Collect their pledges and show your appreciation.  Bring: Calculator and Stapler

Volunteer Check-in
Greet Volunteers and check them in.

Support and Gear (SAG) Vehicles
SAG drivers patrol the bike route providing assistance to cyclists in need of a lift due to bike troubles, fatigue, or accident.  Must be 18 years of age and have a valid drivers license and insurance.

Clean-Up Crew
At the end of the day help teardown and clean up.  Make a quick sweep of the MS route to make sure signs and garbage are picked up.

Rest Stops
Help refresh riders with snacks and beverages.  Assist with set-up and clean up as necessary.  Fun for the entire family!

Route Marking
Assist in hanging route signs the night before the event to guide the riders.

Site Set-Up
Set up registration, food tables and hang banners and balloons.
Time: TBA

Medical
Use your Red Cross training!  Assist tired or injured riders  Must be first-aid certified.

Supervisors
Take-charge people are needed to supervise groups of volunteers.  Supervisors are needed at the Finish lines, Rest Stops, Breakfast, Lunch, Registration & SAG Vehicles, etc.  Step up to the challenge!

Photographers
Photographers are needed for taking team and event photos. Must provide own digital camera.

Luggage Loading/Unloading
If you've got strong arms, we've got a job for you.

Finish Line
We need your cheers as cyclists complete their accomplishment.
