The ease of giving might have attracted Holly Worthington, but her dedication to ending the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis keeps her committed. Holly is one of many people who donate through workplace giving campaigns and has been participating in the campaign offered through her employer, Lockheed Martin, for more than eight years. Lockheed Martin is one of several companies in the metropolitan area that conducts an annual workplace giving campaign - an initiative in which employees are given the opportunity to donate to their charity of choice through payroll deduction or a one-time contribution. After being diagnosed with MS in 2001, Holly reached out to the programs and services offered by the National Capital Chapter. Her positive experience with the Society led her to designate workplace giving contributions to the National MS Society. "Since I have been fortunate enough to have a full time job, this is one way that I can give back to the community," says Holly. "The National MS Society has been such an invaluable resource to me. In giving to the Chapter, I know the money is going to a good cause." Workplace giving campaigns typically begin in September or October and last for an average of four months. The National Capital Chapter of the National MS Society is among the nonprofit organizations that employees can choose to designate. "You don't even miss it from your paycheck. That's what I like about it," says Holly. "And it's easier than writing a lump sum check." If you are interested in learning more about how you can designate the National Capital Chapter in your workplace giving campaign, please contact the Chapter at
